Artashat is one of the oldest cities in Armenia. It is the administrative capital of the Ararat province. The modern city was established by the Soviet Union government in the year 1945. But, the city was first founded by King Artashes, after whom the city is named in 176 B.C. This city remained the capital of the region for over four decades. How to Reach Artashat, Armenia?
By Air
Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan is the closest airport to Artashat town. The airport is about 30 km north of the town. It wouldn’t take more than an hour and a half to reach tourist attraction in and around Artashat from Yerevan. You will be able to get public transport option from near the airport itself to visit Artashat. You can also get cab service or rent a car to travel for Artashat sightseeing directly from Yerevan. Its public transport system is quite convenient, but you will have to be dependent on the bus and train timings for things to do in Artashat.
By Road
You would be using the road quite frequently on Artashat travel. The places to visit in Artashat are not exactly located in the town.
